Webinar explores the rise in hate speech crimes on the basis of faith or belief

Our office hosted a webinar on 'Hate Speech & Communities of Faith & Belief', on Wednesday 15th December 2021. Chaired by Alison Thewliss MP, a panel discussion featuring three speakers generated a dynamic exploration on topic such as:

  • prevalent trends in hate speech targeting faith & belief communities

  • the impact of the pandemic on instances and conditions around hate speech

  • online & off-line incitement to hatred, and the congruous rise in hate speech crimes, on the basis of faith or belief

With thanks to our three compelling panellists:

Iman Atta OBE | Director of TELL MAMA: Anti-Muslim Hatred & Islamophobia in the Age of COVID

Padideh Sabeti | Director of UK Baha'i Office of Public Affairs: Incitement to Hatred Against Baha'is in Iran

Dr. Dave Rich | Director of Policy, Community Security Trust: Anti-Semitic Conspiracies in the Age of COVID-19
